Since 1948...
Huğlu’s own, “Ömer Akdaş“, the founder of AKDAŞ Firearms Inc., learned all the intricacies of manufacturing and repairing hand-crafted and single-barrel shotguns from the masters of his time and, in 1948, opened his own shotgun workshop. Akdaş, who gained recognition with his craftsmanship, is the chief master who realized the production of the first Turkish-made double-barrel shotgun. Known and appreciated by Turkish hunters during his time, Akdaş played a significant role in raising the quality standards of the industry and in the production of new models over time.
In 1987, with the participation of “Selim AKDAŞ,” the workshop transitioned from traditional craftsmanship to modern industrial production methods, expanding the machinery infrastructure. With this potential, in addition to firearms, spare parts were also produced for industries such as defense and textiles.
AKDAŞ, which has been producing various defense industry components for approximately 30 years, continues its production activities with over 100 employees in a 9,500 m2 closed area located on a 30,000 m2 land.
Production activities are conducted through defined and planned processes that encompass all stages, starting from the goods acceptance unit, and adhere to the following standards and certifications:
- TS EN ISO 9001
- Turkish Ministry of National Defense Production Permit Certificate
- Turkish Ministry of National Defense Approved Supplier Certificate
- Facility Security Certificate
- NATO Facility Security Certificate
AKDAŞ has manufactured and continues to produce various parts, such as the lower and upper bodies of the National Infantry Rifle MPT-76 and MPT-55, as well as the AP5 Trigger Group. Additionally, AKDAŞ exports all three variants of the AP5 under an MKE-registered license.
AKDAŞ has produced and delivered 40mm grenade launchers for the needs of the Turkish Armed Forces’ Force Commands, in collaboration with the Presidency of Defense Industries, through the ’40mm Grenade Launcher Supply Projects.’
We take great pride in being one of the largest suppliers to the Military Factories Directorate and MKE and in equipping our Army with our domestically produced firearms.
All products developed in the R&D Center are manufactured with many superior features compared to similar products worldwide.
